No. Pocket Pastors uses artificial intelligence to draft reflections, prayers, and scripture-anchored responses. It is a tool for personal devotion, not a substitute for a human pastor, priest, counselor, or therapist. For serious spiritual direction, mental health support, or pastoral confession, we encourage you to seek a real person in your local community.
Pocket Pastors is broadly Christian and ecumenical. It draws on the historic creeds of the church and tries to be useful whether you come from a Reformed, Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Pentecostal, or non-denominational background. We deliberately stay out of disputed doctrinal questions and try to point you to your own tradition's teachers for those.
When you start a counseling conversation, the message you send is processed by a large language model that has been shaped by careful prompting and guardrails — for example, to anchor responses in scripture, to avoid medical or psychological claims, and to redirect crisis situations to professional services. The model writes a reflection back to you. You then choose what to do with it: pray, journal, share with a friend, or ignore.
Within the same conversation or feature it can refer back to what you have shared. We do not, however, build a long-term profile of your beliefs to share with advertisers or anyone else, and we do not use your conversations to train AI models for other companies. The app is free to use with advertising. If you would like an ad-free experience you can choose between a one-time 50-reply ad-free pack or a monthly or yearly subscription that gives you unlimited ad-free access. All purchases are processed by Apple (on iOS) or Google (on Android).
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Pocket Pastors → Cancel. On Android, open the Google Play Store app → tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Pocket Pastors → Cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
Refunds for in-app subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by Apple or Google according to their store policies. You can request a refund from reportaproblem.apple.com (Apple) or play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory (Google). We are unable to issue refunds directly for purchases made through their stores.
Free Pocket Pastors is funded by Google AdMob advertising. Showing ads is how we pay for AI inference, server costs, and the people who maintain the app. If you would prefer no ads, upgrading to the ad-free pack or a subscription removes all advertising immediately and supports our work directly.
Some features require sign-in so we can save your journal, prayer history, and counseling conversations and sync them across your devices. Account creation uses Sign in with Apple, Google, or email — and you can delete the account and all associated data at any time from within the app.
Inside the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. You can also visit the dedicated deletion page on our website. Deleting your account removes your conversations, journal entries, prayers, and personal information from our active systems within a reasonable period.
Yes. You can use the core features of Pocket Pastors at pocketpastors.com on a desktop or laptop browser. The mobile apps for iOS and Android give a more focused experience and add features like daily scripture notifications.
Most features need an internet connection to talk to the AI model. Saved journal entries and previously generated prayers can be read offline once they are downloaded.
