About Pocket Pastors

A quiet place for scripture, prayer, and honest reflection.

Our story

Pocket Pastors began with a simple observation: most people who wrestle with faith do it late at night, on a phone, alone. A pastor isn't always reachable. A small group meets once a week. The Bible app shows the day's verse, but doesn't know what you are sitting with. We wanted to build something for the long quiet hours in between — a companion that helps you slow down, read scripture honestly, journal what you cannot say out loud, and pray when you do not have the words.

We are not building a replacement for the church. We are building a quiet room next to it.

What we believe

Pocket Pastors is built from a broadly Christian, ecumenical posture — drawing on the historic creeds of the Christian church and on a high regard for scripture. We try to speak in a register that is helpful whether you come from a Reformed, Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, or non-denominational background, and to be honest about questions we do not think AI should answer for you. Some things — pastoral confession, sacraments, congregational worship, life-and-death counsel — belong to a real community, not to an app. We try to gently point you back there.

How we use AI

Behind the scenes, Pocket Pastors uses large language models to generate spoken-feeling reflections, scripture connections, and prayer drafts in response to what you share. We shape the model's behaviour through careful prompting and theological guardrails — for example, refusing to make medical claims, declining to give crisis intervention in place of trained professionals, and steering away from advice that pretends to certainty the tradition itself doesn't claim.

AI can be wrong. So can pastors. So can we. Whatever you receive here is meant to be a starting point for your own prayer, your own conversations, and your own walk — not a final authority.

What you'll find in the app

  • Counseling. A private, conversational space to talk through what is sitting on your heart and receive scripture-anchored reflection.
  • Prayer. Bring a request, a name, a season — and let the app help you draft a prayer you can pray as your own, or rework, or simply read aloud.
  • Journal. Quietly write what is true, with the option to draw on past entries the way a confessor might draw on memory.
  • Daily scripture. A verse to start with on days you are out of words.

Privacy & how we make money

Your counseling conversations, journal entries, and prayer requests are private to your account. We do not sell them. We do not use them to train other people's AI models. We do not show them to advertisers.

The free version of the app supports itself through Google AdMob advertising. If you want an ad-free experience — or want to support our work directly — you can purchase the one-time ad-free pack or subscribe monthly or yearly from inside the app. Subscriptions are how we pay the AI inference costs and the people who build this.

Who builds Pocket Pastors

Pocket Pastors is built by Zero Innovavi Limited, a private company registered in Hong Kong. The team is a small group of engineers, designers, and friends from across denominations who happen to use AI by day and care about the church by night. We are a young, independent operation — not a venture-funded mega-startup, not a denominational program. We answer to our users, our consciences, and (we hope) something higher than either.
